The most overlooked lesson from Rich Dad Poor Dad
"The rich buy luxuries last, while the middle class & the poor buy luxuries first"- Robert Kiyosaki
Good evening
If you ever read this book by Robert Kiyosaki, you probably know the famous lessons like “The rich don’t work for money”, “Importance of financial literacy”, or even “ work to learn not to earn” but to me there is a lesson that is often overlooked that started to make sense to me back in 2023:
“The rich buy luxuries last, while the middle class & the poor buy luxuries first” this quote simply means that the rich acquire solid financial literacy and cash generating assets that fund their lifestyle including buying their dream car, house, travel fantasies.
Most middle class and poor people do the opposite, that is on their first paycheck they buy a liability or something that keeps taking money from them like a car, house, and using their paycheck for their lifestyle.
In my observation the reason why most of us who are from middle class and poor families we don’t go for financial literacy and cash generating assets is due to FOMO (fear of missing out) or what is popularly known as keeping up with the Joneses. We want to be seen on that holiday to Cape Town, Swakopmond, Maldives or Dubai when we get paid either saving money for it or however.
But the rich on the other hand are not playing the rat race or are not feeling the pressure to keep up with anyone in life who seem to be upgrading their lifestyle. They are acquiring assets left, right and center making sure they don’t live off of a paycheck and deal with stress of financial bondage.
So at the end of the day it’s really up to you and I to decide whether we want to do life like the rich or like those who raised us. But we can never run from the consequences we choose.
Have an amazing evening.
