3 mistakes I regret as a University student years ago

I wish I could have done these things during that time not now

It’s a Sunday and I want to dedicate this day to talk about my regrets and most of them are in my varsity life. This session is deep dive, during this I want to dive into personal life lessons, interview young entrepreneurs in the coming year so that they can share their story with me and you.

But today I just want to start with some of my regrets, these are actually opportunities I missed and could have taken that I am currently working on in this moment of my life.

  1. Not Starting a business/ specialising on a skill

When I was in University of Botswana I was a media studies student, but I missed out on a huge opportunity to specialize in one of the skills we were taught there, editing videos, animating, graphic designing, photography, etc. I didn’t take this opportunity, it’s only after I finished school that I decided to be an editor. I could have been far, turning that skill to a business or animation or even became serious about motion graphics. This is something I think about from time to time and would like to encourage most varsity student to do, the best time to start a business is your varsity years because of the free money and youthful energy you have.

  2. Not joining a club

I wish I could have joined a club that introduces me to different experiences and allowed me to travel. Gym club, fencing, basketball just anything besides my normal studies, even Chinese clubs that I saw, I missed out on opportunities to network and have different hobbies or even find my future wife.

  3. Exchange studies

I was passing very well in school and I did not take the opportunity to be an exchange student. I remember one poster that could have given me the opportunity to study in New York I did not take it, till this day I regret it. How could I miss that knowing well I qualify, I could have gotten a exposure to a different world way bigger than mine and brought knowledge to my country that could have made me a fortune.

So if maybe you’re in varsity make sure you take the opportunities that present themselves, don’t regret missed opportunities like me, have a good evening!
