Thank You! And why I do Pow Rocket Press
Good morning! If you’re reading this, I would like you to know I just reached over 100 subscribers. Wow, this is crazy to me! What I do is not a very popular business, and it needs a lot of consistency and work. But most of all, it needs you as part of what makes it special.
It’s Okay to now know what you’re doing, and where you want to go, just discover along the way
It means so much to me to be doing this. But I bet you want to know why I do what I do and what Pow Rocket Press is really about. So, for me, I have to acknowledge that in the beginning and continuation of building this online community, I just didn’t know exactly why I was doing this. I thought I was wrong for that, until I found out that some of the biggest brands in the world started without really knowing where they’re going, until they pivoted towards something they believe serves their core audience. Once you know it, it turns into something bigger and innovative.
What’s the big idea
In my life, I always thought that my vision was to be rich one day: a millionaire or billionaire. But then, when time went on, it occurred to me that being a millionaire or, billionaire is not a vision. My vision is not about making a lot of money. Money becomes a tool to your vision, not the other way round.
I could have easily been driven by finding a way to monetize this newsletter, but there’s something else that has been consistently driving me to do Pow Rocket Press. That is, just the desire to help people. That’s it, that’s what drives me, not trying to be rich off of monetizing that’s why I decided to keep Pow Rocket Press free, even if I interview billionaires, I won’t try to gatekeep and monetize the interviews. It will remain free, now I’m not yet making money off of Pow Rocket Press but like I said when I do find a way to make money it will be to create better content here for you all and even hire writers, run ads, designers and everything I believe will help grow the newsletter.
I see money as a tool, not as a goal. Money is a means to an end (not the end), and people (you) are the end.
My Obsession: Ideas (What made guys like Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Sankara, Gaddafi, Ibrahim Traoire)
One of my favorite books is a book called “Understanding comics” by Scott Mcloud, the simple book which was meant to focus on 60’s-90’s super hero comics ended up covering the very basis of human literature: words and letters were broken down to how we humans process them, and that we think in pictures not words. It also opened my mind to statements I always say to myself:
Ideas are immortal, they can’t be killed, they’re visions uttered, they’re prophecies. Once a great leader has an idea and tells the whole world about it, that idea will not die until it is fulfilled.
Martin Luther King Jr had the idea that one day black kids and white kids would be treated based on their character and not skin colour. Nelson Mandela had an idea that South Africa would be free from apartheid.
Sankara, Gaddafi, and Ibrahim have the same vision: for Africa to be a continent that governs its own resources, trades with its vast minerals, and better the lives of their people.
They killed Sankara and Gaddafi and are trying to kill Ibrahim. What the Western world does not realize is that they’re up against an idea, not individual leaders who are trying to disrupt that neo-colonial rule. And that idea is immortal, it will find a new body and a new will that will run with it until it’s fulfilled.
That’s why I love ideas, they’re immortal, they will live on for 100 years or more after we’ve long died.
My idea
This whole thing has driven me to ask myself so many questions about where I want to you the reader with Pow Rocket Press. Do I want to make you rich? Do I want to help with quick solutions to get you out of your troubles?
No, I realize an idea is not a tangible thing, even though it leads to tangible results, it’s not. So then I guess my idea is to help you, see opportunities around you that you were never told about.
To help you realize it’s easier than you imagined to build wealth.
To make you believe that our country is a land where dreams can become a reality, despite the injustice and inequality. If we can have a brand new president from an opposition party, the first African to win the 200 metre race from our country, then what else is possible?
Should we stop there? What else is possible to discover in Botswana? What if you become the next person to show us what’s possible from this nation, which is becoming the youngest Motswana billionaire in dollars, or the first Motswana to cure cancer, go to space, or become Botswana’s first female president? What could be possible?
This is my idea; to help you believe, to help you see with proof and maybe to help pull you out of the depression of a life you feel like you’re in and your inner self making you feel guilt for not persuing things you believe are not possible because of the circumstance you were brought up in.
That’s my idea, what about yours?
