The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) and eMarket Solutions Botswana have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to empower Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) by providing direct market access to the South African Take-a-lot e-commerce platform. This partnership aims to enhance the reach and profitability of local businesses while also supporting Botswana’s economic diversification, job creation, and export-led growth. By enrolling in this platform, SMMEs will have an opportunity to sell their products to larger markets, strengthening their business operations and positioning themselves for international trade through agreements like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
What is eMarket solution about?
eMarket Solutions Botswana is an online marketplace designed to bridge the gap between Botswana and the world’s leading e-commerce platforms. LEA will be working on a lead time basis
There will be an assessment of performance of each product
There will be a pipeline created for businesses that are export ready to deliver into the market
Local Businesses are encouraged to be resilient and competitive
Currently our market is small and can’t sustain the needs/demands of this space
There will be testing the market through exporting first
There’s a need to market excellent products, this deal will create a digital market place for Batswana, and it will help build confidence on Botswana’s own e-commerce market
