Can Botswana handle the 4k minimum wage?

During the Facebook live media one of the topics covered is the issue of 4k minimum wage or is Botswana broke, so these are some of governor Cornelius Dekop’s points regarding this:

There is a trade imbalance deficit with South Africa and other trade partners

The impact bill has been going up

Is the country broke? Compared to what I saw with other countries: not able to pay employees, lack of cars on the road, empty shelves in food stores, no the country is not broke, but what is happening is there is not enough cash inflow to assist cash outflow for government expenditure

When it comes to the 4k minimum wage only the government can answer that question

Botswana is in a deficit because it has more imports than exports.
